Privacy Policy

Cogsmith is operated by the Cogsmith team, based in Ireland. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled. We keep it short because our data practices are simple.
What we collect
Email addresses. We collect your email address when you activate a plugin license, when you are added as an email digest recipient within a Cogsmith plugin, or when you contact us for support. These addresses are used solely for license management, delivering the digest emails you or your site administrator requested, and responding to support correspondence.
License keys. When you purchase a Cogsmith plugin, a license key is generated and stored in your WordPress site's options table. We store a corresponding record on our licensing server to validate activations.
Support correspondence. If you email us, we retain the conversation for as long as it is useful for resolving your issue and improving the product. We do not add support contacts to marketing lists.
What we do not collect
We do not collect usage analytics, telemetry, or behavioural data from your WordPress site. We do not use tracking pixels, cookies for advertising purposes, or any form of cross-site tracking. Cogsmith plugins do not phone home beyond license validation checks.
Third parties
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy. When you purchase a license, Lemon Squeezy handles your payment information. We do not store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or other payment details on our servers. Refer to Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.
We do not share, sell, or provide your personal data to any other third party.
Email communications
When you purchase Cogsmith Ledger, your email address is collected through Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor). We use this email to:
- Send you license activation details
- Notify you when new versions of Cogsmith Ledger are released
- Occasionally inform you about new Cogsmith plugins (no more than once a quarter)
You can unsubscribe from update notifications at any time by replying to any email or contacting support@cogsmith.io. Your purchase license remains valid regardless of subscription status.
We never sell, share, or rent your email address to third parties.
Data storage
Plugin settings, product costs, report caches, and digest recipient configurations are stored in your WordPress database on your own server. We do not operate a central analytics database. The only data stored on our infrastructure is the license key record and the associated email address.
Data retention and deletion
If you deactivate your license or uninstall a Cogsmith plugin, your local data remains in your WordPress database until you remove it. To request deletion of your email address and license record from our licensing server, email us and we will process it within 30 days.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You may also request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
